Hahn & Hahn Partner Laura Farber Sworn in as President-Elect of American Bar Association
Pasadena, CA, August 4, 2026 -- Hahn & Hahn LLP is proud to announce that partner Laura Farber has been sworn in as President-elect of the American Bar Association (ABA), effective today. The ABA’s 535-member House of Delegates elected Farber at its just-concluded annual convention in Chicago. As President-elect, Farber will work for one year alongside current ABA President Barbara J. Howard.
“My involvement in the ABA has been central to my development as a lawyer,” Farber said. “Since joining the ABA in 1994, I have seen firsthand how truly inclusive this organization is. The ABA brings together practitioners who share core values and a commitment to the rule of law. At what feels like a pivotal time for the Association, every meeting sparks an exciting exchange of ideas that always seek to advance the profession. I am truly honored to represent my peers and colleagues and to be their President-elect.”
Farber has held multiple roles within the ABA for more than 30 years. She is the immediate past California State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates, a member of the ABA Day Planning Committee, an advisory member of the Council for the ABA Fund for Justice and Education, a California Lawyers Association Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates. In 2024-25, she was chair of the American Bar Foundation Fellows, a global honorary society of lawyers, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars dedicated to the highest principles of the legal profession and to supporting the research of the ABF focusing on how law and society intersect.
Recognized with numerous honors and accolades throughout her career, Farber’s community engagement in Pasadena is noteworthy. She was the president of the Tournament of Roses Association for the 131st Rose Parade and 106th Rose Bowl Game in 2020. She chaired the Rose Bowl Management Committee from 2020-2025, having negotiated the Rose Bowl Game’s entry into the College Football Playoffs.
“Laura’s passion and advocacy for the legal profession are inspiring. Whether serving clients, colleagues or the broader legal community, Laura leads with integrity, vision and purpose,” said Christianne Kerns, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Hahn & Hahn. “Hahn & Hahn is proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor with her and we are grateful to call her our partner.”
In her acceptance speech to ABA Delegates, Farber outlined her priorities for the year ahead. “Our work ahead is grounded in four goals: serving our members; strengthening the legal profession; eliminating bias and advancing diversity that reflects the full beauty of our communities; and fighting for the rule of law," Farber said. "These are not separate lanes. They are one promise: to build a strong, broad and united profession to defend our constitution, increase access to justice, and fight for our democracy and the rule of law."
When Farber assumes the presidency in August 2027, she will be leading the organization as its 151st President and its first Latina president as it celebrates its sesquicentennial.
