Wildfire Disaster List of Resources

We stand with our community in grief and compassion for the unimaginable losses due to the catastrophic wildfires across Los Angeles. Below is a list of several resources for those who have been affected as well as those for who wish to support victims of the wildfires. This is not a comprehensive list, but we will do our best to update key resources. Please be alert for scams that may be targeting victims or those wishing to make charitable donations and verify the legitimacy of the organization prior to giving any personal information.

 

Communication Regarding the Fires

The latest trusted, up-to-date information on the current fires can be found through the following:

  • 211 LA: A resource directory for social services in Los Angeles County. 211 LA can help with housing, food, health, homeless-related programs, crisis services, and connecting people with other resources. You can call 211 LA at (800) 339-6993.
  • CalFire: To view ongoing emergency responses in California visit https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents
  • Los Angeles County: To view real-time evacuation, shelter, and other information visit https://lacounty.gov/emergency/
  • City of Los Angeles: For updates specific to the Palisades fire, visit https://emergency.lacity.gov/updates

Additional Services (Food/Housing/Shelter/Mental Health):

  • The American Red Cross offers shelter, meals, and emotional support. Visit Red Cross Find Open Shelters or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
  • LAHSA: For those experiencing homelessness.
  • Mental Health Resources: Click here or call the Disaster Distress Hotline at 800-985-5990,
  • Mutual Aid Los Angeles Network has compiled a list of resources in their details Google spreadsheet of donation hubs, animal housing, and shelters.
  • Planet Fitness is providing essential services for local residents and first responders, including free access to showers, Wi-Fi, and charging stations for devices until 1/15.
  • YMCA: For emergency resources and updates.

Financial Assistance:

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): Residents & businesses in evacuation zones can apply now for relief at http://disasterassistance.gov. This includes temporary displacement assistance (e.g., hotel costs for 2 weeks), $770 for essential personal items, large grants for needs like medical bills & car repairs. You can also call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362. Press 3 for an interpreter who speaks your language.
  • Misfortune and Calamity Tax Relief: You may be eligible for tax relief if your property is damaged or destroyed by a calamity, such as fire or flooding. To qualify, you must file an Application for Reassessment: Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity (ADS-820) with the Assessor’s Office within 12 months from the date the property was damaged or destroyed.   • U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loans: SBA disaster assistance for homeowners, renters, nonprofits, and businesses of all sizes affected by the wildfires and straight-line winds in California.   • Greenline Housing Eaton Fire Relief Fund: Greenline Housing has launched the Eaton Fire Relief Fund to provide the financial support and resources needed to empower Black and Hispanic property owners in Altadena, one of the most diverse areas of Los Angeles County, who have faced the devastation of damaged homes and businesses from the recent fires. Recovery Efforts: 

Wildfire Relief Donation Efforts

  • CalFire has provided this link for those who wish to aid fire relief.
  • Pasadena Community Foundation: The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has opened the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund providing an opportunity for those who want to support immediate and pressing needs even as the fire continues to spread.
  • Red Cross Los Angeles: The Red Cross is helping those impacted by fires. If you would like to help, you can donate money, volunteer or give blood.
  • Union Station Homeless Services: Union Station Homeless Services has had to evacuate a number of sites within the emergency evacuation zones and is urgently working to provide essential support to those affected. If you would like to help, you can donate money, provide in-kind donations or volunteer.
